About Us
VIP Pet Care in Regina, Saskatchewan has been a kennel since 2000. In October of 2006 Melanie MacKenzie and Mike Rayner took over the kennel and since then business has flourished. Celebrating our 5th anniversary of operation inspires reflection. With a few changes, including adding daycare, many renovations and the addition of 50 more kennels and 3 yards, we feel the past 5 years have been a success and will continue to become better with each passing year. Our dedication helps make each dog’s stay at our kennel more comfortable, enjoyable and unique.

Running the kennel is a full time job that always keeps us busy. Melanie is a hair-stylist while Mike spends most of his days at the kennel. Both of us grew up around dogs and currently have four of our own: two Great Danes, Hugo and Nevada, and two Blue Heeler-Great Pyrenees crosses who we rescued. More recently we have lost Chloe, a Rottweiler, and Winston, a Great Dane, due to illness and we miss them both dearly.
What is a Social Kennel?
We can help introduce your pet to social behaviour. We strongly believe in exercising your pet’s body and mind. Dogs are pack animals and enjoy the company of other dogs. VIP Pet Care is a social kennel: that means we put boarding and daycare dogs together into social groups for play, exercise, and activity. However, if you prefer, we will keep your pet separate from other pets and they will get their own exercise time. Our staff is experienced with picking out social groups and where your pet fits in.
Staff

Laura - I have been with VIP Pet Care since July 2007. Since I started I have completed my university education, my animal first aid and have also gotten a few lessons in dog behaviour along the way. I am now managing the kennel and hope to continue to help make even more improvements and make every visit to VIP special for each pet and their owner.

Shayna - After dreaming of working with dogs for many years, I finally got the chance when I started at VIP Pet Care in November of 2008. I have never looked back. With seven dogs of my own, and having been involved in flyball, agility, obedience training, confirmation, Rally-O, disc, stockwork, retriever training and more, I am more than a little addicted to dogs!
Christina - I started working at VIP Pet Care in July 2010. Because of working at VIP Pet Care I found and adopted my two dogs! I love being able to bring my dogs to work with me every day so they can play with all of their friends. Working with so many dogs has certainly taught me how to train my own.
Adam - I started working at VIP in March 2010. I've always had pets growing up, but my current dog Trinity is my best bud! The only way I can describe her breed is a bear wolf cross, aka: my "little" teddy bear. |
VIP's Pet of the Month

What's New

VIP Pet Care will be at the 3rd Annual Pet Expo! Come visit us this Sunday, May 6th between 10am-5pm at the Conexus Arts Centre. Admission is $5 and kids 10 & under are free! For more info please visit www.conexusartscentre.ca.
At VIP Pet Care we feel that safety is very important. We have decided that it is mandatory for all dogs at VIP to wear the keepsafe collar. The keepsafe collar is fully functional for everyday use, but has a safety release clasp to avoid accidental strangulation. The safety release clasp will snap off if your dog's collar ever becomes entangled on anything, including trees, bushes, heating vents, or another dog. Due to the social environment we feel that it is for the best for everyone to be wearing the keepsafe collars. We will be selling the red collars at cost for all the daycare dogs and will keep black collars for kennel use for boarding dogs. For more information please check out our newsletter or www.keepsafecollar.com.
Renos! At the end of April we will be adding more kennels to accommodate the growing demand for boarding and daycare.
